Hotel details🇬🇹 Guatemala
Land at GUA, sleep in Antigua. Dry season Nov–Apr. Daily $25–90. Atitlán is a village choice; coffee harvest Nov–Mar.
Most first trips land at La Aurora (GUA), sleep in Antigua the same night, then pick a Lake Atitlán village (not a hotel brand) before Tikal, Semuc Champey, or the Caribbean. This hub is the map: arrival, daily costs, coffee-finca nights, and the stay guides for Antigua and Atitlán. Hotel names below are only properties already listed on this site.
Dry season is November–April. January–February is the clearest window for Atitlán views and Acatenango. Semana Santa (late March or April) fills Antigua and can triple hotel rates; book three to six months ahead. May–October mornings are often usable; September–October are the wettest and cheapest. Coffee harvest on listed fincas runs November–March.
Backpacker: about $25–40 a day. Mid-range with a colonial or lakeside room and tourist shuttles: $50–90. Luxury nights in Antigua or on Atitlán: $150–300+. Hostels $6–12, comedores $2–4, mid-range rooms $40–70. Antigua and Atitlán cost more than Xela or Petén. Quetzal planning rate on the arrival page is about Q7.80 = $1.
Antigua if you want a walkable first base 45 minutes to 1.5 hours from GUA. Atitlán if you already know which village matches you (Panajachel for transport, San Pedro for budget, San Marcos for quiet mornings, Santa Cruz if you accept boat-only access). Do not book a lake hotel until the village is decided.
